Final Steering committee meeting ahead of Monaco’s Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe

Chaired by H.E. Mr Christophe MIRMAND, Minister of State, and Mrs Isabelle BERRO-AMADEÏ, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, the meeting brought together all Monégasque institutions involved in this major milestone for the Principality, which will hold this responsibility for the first time since joining the Council of Europe in 2004. The meeting provided an opportunity to present the main communication tools that will be deployed throughout the six-month Presidency.

In his opening remarks, the Minister of State underlined "the truly historic nature of this milestone" as well as "the quality of the collective work carried out over recent months thanks to the full commitment of all Monegasque Institutions".

Mrs Isabelle BERRO-AMADEÏ recalled that the meeting marked "a key stage in the transition to the operational phase of Monaco’s Presidency". She also presented the guiding theme of the Presidency: "Protecting everyone through an effective Organisation to address current challenges".

Monaco’s Presidency will focus on several major priorities: combating violence against women, protecting children and young people, supporting the system of the European Convention on Human Rights, promoting sport as a driver of development and well-being, and combating organised crime.

By way of reminder, the Council of Europe, which brings together 46 member States, is the leading organisation promoting Human Rights, democracy and the Rule of Law across the European continent. Monaco will hold the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers from 15 May to 10 November 2026.
