First meeting of the Steering Committee for the planning of the Monaco’s Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (COPIL)

On Thursday 6 February at the Ministry of State, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation held the first meeting of the Steering Committee to plan for Monaco’s chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe for the first time in its history, for six months starting in May 2026.

Monaco participates in 134th Session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe

Ms Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Acting Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, took part in the 134th Session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, held in Luxembourg on 13–14 May 2025, accompanied by Gabriel Revel, Ambassador and Monaco’s Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe, and Florian Botto, Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.Exactly one year from now, after the next Session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe to be held in Moldavia, for the first time since it joined, Monaco will take over Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe for a period of six months beginning on 15 May 2026.In her speech, Ms Berro-Amadeï stressed the urgency of achieving fair, reliable and lasting peace in Ukraine, preserving the sovereignty and independence of the country in accordance with international law. She also reaffirmed the crucial role of the European Court of Human Rights and the unconditional nature of the execution of its rulings.In parallel to the Session, Ms Berro-Amadeï held bilateral talks with her counterparts in Moldavia and Montenegro, the two countries that will chair the Committee of Ministers just before and after the Principality. These meetings were an opportunity to discuss common priorities for these deadlines.She also met with her counterparts in Andorra and Austria as well as the Secretary General of the Council of Europe to discuss the Council’s activities and to announce Monaco’s voluntary contribution for the period 2025-2026 of an amount of €500,000, which is double what it contributed for the period 2023-2024.

Monaco reaffirms before the Council of Europe its commitment to protecting women, children and their rights in the digital environment

As part of Monaco’s Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, Mr Christophe ROBINO, Minister of Health and Social Affairs, travelled to Strasbourg on 3 and 4 June to promote the Principality’s priorities regarding the protection of the rights of women and children and to contribute to European discussions on the challenges associated with protecting young people in the digital environment.

Isabelle BERRO-AMADEÏ takes part in the annual Conference of the Council of Europe gender equality Commission

On 9 June 2026, Ms Isabelle BERRO-AMADEÏ, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, took part in the Annual Conference of the Council of Europe Gender Equality Commission (GEC), dedicated to the role of women in conflict resolution, reconciliation and peace-building. On this occasion, she emphasised that the full participation of women is an essential condition for achieving a just and lasting peace and for building inclusive societies.
